Lake Manatee/Terra Ceia

The high winds this week and water temperatures dropping back down into the lower the 70's were the big stories for this week. The days we were able to get on the water the fishing was very good. Trout made up the bulk of our catches this week with many slot size fish to take home for dinner. The trout this year are very healthy and fat making for nice size fillets. This year has also been an exceptional year for flounder. This past week we caught several flounder in the 16-20 inch range. These fish are excellent table fare, and fish this size produce some nice fillets. The whitebait is thick on the flats, so the long ride to the Skyway is not necessary. Tarpon are here so if they are your preferred target, now is the time to book your favorite guide as these days fill up fast. The fishing is great right now so enjoy your day on the water and be safe.
