Does Barometric Pressure Effect the Bite?

I got an opportunity to go fishing with a dear friend of mine – by the name of Dave Miller – at a place any of you reading this report should consider if you're planning a world-class billfishing adventure. The name of the resort is TresPalmas, and it is located on the coast of Costa Rica. You can visit the site by clicking here.

The target of our visit to the beautiful Latin American country were billfish, and man, did we have a day. It happened to be my friend's birthday, and we got 20 fish – Twenty! – alongside the boat. We only got to “Leader Release” seventeen of them. (The IGFA required method of holding the leader while the fish is released; slip-offs don't count, nor do the professional releases you get if the hook breaks or straightens, which chromium steel can do when squeezed hard enough by a 400lb marlin!).

We ended up landing mostly pacific striped marlin and one black marlin that was 400lbs. Quite a day with 17 official marlin releases! We have video we're putting up on www.youtube.com/TheOnlineFisherman of two different times that we had three fish on at the same time. You want to talk about excitement? Visit the lodge for the fishing trip of a lifetime, and if you can, call them ahead-of-time to find out what species is best suited for the time you can go.

I can promise you the bite will be on :)
