Capt. Mike S. Murray was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, just minutes from Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. He has been fishing ever since he can remember, whether for fifteen minutes before school, or all day during summer vacation. Captain Mike grew up on the water going out on his family's boats. In his teens he moved to Land O' Lakes, Florida, where he began to bass fish and compete in bass tournaments. This type of fishing taught him patience on the water and how to use artificial lures. After high school he moved to Tampa, Florida, where he attended college to become a Firefighter/Paramedic. He has been a professional Firefighter/Paramedic since 1998 and is currently assigned to the Tampa Fire Rescues fire boat "The Patriot", a 69 ft. Firestorm model. His schedule at the fire department allows him to spend a lot of time on the water and keep up with where the fish are. Along with being a Charter Captain, Captain Mike also fishes in tournaments. He specializes in chasing redfish, and fishes in a monthly redfish tour. With both the Fire Department and charter fishing, Captain Mike feels like he has the best of both worlds. He gets to spend most of his time on boats and on the water. Being outdoors and on the water is his passion, and if you book a charter with him, he hopes that he can make it your passion also.
