I've been lucky enough to be talking to Scott Moore, and you'll be seeing reports from him and his son Justin increasingly over the coming months. Scott is a serious activist in our community, and those of us at TheOnlineFisherman -- and some of you, hopefully, will be helping people like Scott and the people at the CCA to protect our sport from the increasing danger posed by federal regulation of a sport and an industry they seem to know very little about.

That having been said, Scott said the fish are coming alive in a major way. There's bait there -- good bait, and Scott said that the Macks were all over the place down south, and Kings couldn't be far behind.

He's fishing this week around Anna Maria. You guys might see him. Watch and learn :)

Yes, and a lot of blue runners are being caught at the jetty and along the beach. So that means the kings should be close by. IMO.

We talked to the people at the pier this morning -- and they said bait was running deep but running. I would bet that there are blue runners showing up.

We're (me and Captain David Rieumont) are fishing the Clearwater Rotary Club Kingfish Tournament this year, and blue runners are the bait, for sure.

I can say I've caught thousands of kings on them in my life. And never (except once, maybe) bought one of those $10 frozen ribbon baits. And the one I did buy got eaten by a 12lb-er.

Goes to show you. You like fishing kingfish? We should do a trip sometimes. I'm gonna start fishing again as soon as we start our promotional campaign this week
