Jeez I haven't been there in forever. I caught my first Florida largemouth bass in that lake many, many years ago on a black rubber worm. I read about it in a Mark Sosin article I think, and drove there with my Cousin Art and a Canoe. I caught two. I can still remember the tap-tap-tap and setting the hook. God, the mind is a crazy thing.

There used to be a place right there at the park where you dropped your boat that had minnows. But definitely take deep-running plugs. The fish are going to be deep in this weather. And tell us how you do! Now I want to go bass fishing.

But here is the link to their information site. It might help.

FYI Lake Tarpon was ranked 57th in America for bass fishing in the May Bassmaster Magazine.

Nothing catches fish like wild shiners in the Suwannee river, up by my house in Fowlers Bluff a guy used to drive down to Ocala and bring back tanks full, and they sold like hot cakes. They don't take travel too well and a lot of them would die on the way up, but even the dead ones would catch fish.

We just rebuilt the Treasure Camp next to the county boat ramp on Fowlers Bluff, and the new owner has a pretty good selection of bait. He split the old shiner tank that was out front in half and put a walk way through it. Everybody was hoping that he would start up the old tank and import some fresh shiners from down south, but the cost was just too high.
