The number of people who have already RSVP'ed for the upcoming First Annual Fishing Extravaganza being sponsored by those of us that are responsible for this site has risen above 200. Almost 220, actually. And the registrations are not slowing down.
We want to thank you all for what you do to make this site so very, very cool. If the 31st of March is as cool as we think it's gonna be, it will hopefully begin a legacy that's not about anything but our combined and collective love for this beautiful and blessed sport.
Speaking of the location. I just put this comment on another post, but in case you didn't read that one, this is a little bit about the Fort. We are starting our party around noon, which means if you go to the park at 5am you can get a good half-day fishing in, and still get to hear some of the absolute best anglers and resources our community has to offer. While eating free stuff, and maybe winning stuff you will not believe.
FORT DESOTO
If you dig into the "Where to Fish" tab, you will find something we call "FishySpot" maps. In that incredibly detailed (and RAPIDLY GROWING!!!!) Library of where to try fishing, you will find a very, very detailed map about the Fort.

I would fish the beaches right now. Especially the ones on the Saint Pete side.
The history of the Fort is very interesting. You might not know that a Navy man named Robert E. Lee was the first Westerner to actually map the keys where the fort is. (And Tarpon and Cow&Calf and the other ones, too).
