Pre-Hubbard's Offshore Trip Pinfish Party!

OK. here's the plan:

We're meeting at Maximo Park in St Pete at...say.....10am on Thursday, July 5th (the day before the trip) to load up on pinfish for our trip. We'll first try to find them right there in Maximo Park. If that doesn't work, we'll either shoot over to the Skyway or the bridge that goes over to Ft. De Soto. We will be fishing FROM LAND. No boats needed. The Online Fisherman will provide small hooks and frozen shrimp. We will also have extra rods if needed. We'll get as many as we think we're going to need, put them in coolers with aerator's, load them up in trucks and shoot them over to Hubbard's Marina where they will be stored overnight. Then, after we make sure our pinfish are nice and safely stored, we'll all sit down and grab some food at a friend of ours restaurant right there on the pass called The Boardwalk Grill.

Who's in?

We understand this is a Thursday and most people will probably have to work, but if you don't have to work and are fishing with us on Friday, please consider helping out our cause. We will buy extra pinfish if for some reason we just can't catch enough but I don't think we will have any problem loading up enough to make it work.

Are you guys just catching the pins by rod and reel only? or you gonna net them as well? If so, it may be a good idea to do a Part II from Capt David castnetting seminar on how to throw a net.

Although I haven't been to Hubbard in quite some time. The last time I was going I got some really nice size Pinfish at the dock at Hubbard. If you are going out depth remember SIZE MATTERS. Bigger pinfish + bigger Keepers.

with all the boaters and capt's can't someone step up with some pinfish traps too?

with forty+ anglers and an average of 2 dozen per angler, that's 80 dozen baits.

Cut sardines and squid will be effective out there after this blow we just had although

I just like using live pins.

Catch em up fellas, wish I could help ya catch em but no can do which is why I always buy them.

I'd love to be part of this but we have a hotel room with a dock reserved in St Pete from the 5th - 8th and will be getting into our room on the 5th. We're going to have our boat at the hotel dock. We're going on the Hubbards deep see trip on the 6th and back out in our boat on the 7th. I plan on picking up some pinfish and sticking them in the boats livewell for the night.
We may try to join you guys for dinner though.

Pretty hard to get enough pins with only four guys. I sure hope more of you can join us. And Rick has a great point about the pinfish traps.

We have a few traps, but some more would be nice...we'll have enough bait definitely, but this will help our cause. We will buy some for everyone if needed, but it would be very nice to be able to catch most of them. Also, ideally 80 dozen would be nice, but that's stretching it a little I think...I think we'll be good with 40 dozen because we still have cut bait to use which works just fine with ARS

I can make it to Maximo at noon.

I have to work but will try to make it out if I can. If I can't make it me and cyrus will hit up bayshore and see what we can do before sunset.

I know I heard pinfish , but what about threadfins and scaled sardines ? Should I bring them if I catch alot.

Should I make alot of chum with alot of them too ? lol

I will try to be there with the wife. We get in Tuesday from Ind. If we don't have too much work to do after Debbie to our winter house we should be there if we can find it. Freaky
