Fishing from the jetty has been only mediocre for a couple of weeks. I have been managing to catch several 2 foot snook, a few trout and other miscellaneous trash fish each day that I am there.

I hooked a tarpon yesterday, that promptly, and I do mean IN A HURRY, spooled me
There were quite a few of them rolling between and around the jetty.
Strange though, you can almost NEVER hook one that you see.

This am, just before daylight- again- a couple of 18" keeper trout and a nice pompano entered my bucket and got a ride home with me.

I left the camera home, but y'all know what they look like.

I noticed that someone is wanting me to catch an ARS with a Gotcha, when we go on the Hubbard trip.
Man, I'd love to do it, too!
But... don't they frown on your trying to be different?
I don't believe they will let you do it. It might be interesting to try, though.
I am keeping in practice for the big event. Can't wait to go!

Hey Bill...you're gonna be right next to me on the Hubbard's trip! I think you should try with the Gotcha. I plan on doing it. I have a couple of the larger ones. I don't think Hubbard's care how you catch the fish. That would be cool to pull up some big ARS on them.

What number are you on the boat?

I suggested just to see if you would lol! You seem to catch everything on a gotcha so why not? I won't be there to see but it would be interesting to see if you could

Are you sure they will let you use one? On all the party {head} boats I've been on, the crew rigs your line just like everyone else.

The Gotcha has to be bounced to be effective.
Well, I guess if we're at the back, the lines won't cross too much.

Well, I'll be bringing my own rods and tackle...so they won't be rigging anything for me. I believe Stowaway mentioned that some guys from Miami were jigging only on the Hubbard's. I'll be at Vance Tice Seminar today at TFO...so I'll see if they have any of the 2oz versions. I plan to pick up a few so we can try out different sizes and colors to see which ones are most effective. Chartreuse is my favorite color. Might try white body with chartreuse and red heads...chartreuse body with red heads. Maybe a couple with bucktails. What's your favorite colors?

Is the Jetty near the Crows Nest marina? I fished a jetty near there the sign said Humphries Park I think. Is that the right place?

Yes, it is. In no specific order, my favorite spots are: 1-at the end of the dock/chain link fence, 2-behind the hot dog stand, 3- near the red #2A marker, 4- just past the #2A marker, #5- the very end, and #6- directly across from the front of the hot dog stand. :fishing:

So far, since I have had such success with them, I prefer 7/8 ounce Chrome, with either red or yellow head. Those are the only ones I buy. I've tried the bucktail versions but never had any luck with them.
Honestly though, I believe that if you fish a stone with a teaser the way fish want to see it move, that you will catch fish. :@))

I was using D.O.A Shads (White, and a black one with gold glitter). I think either my set-up or the way I was fishing them was wrong. Only caught two lady fish during my stay. I had never used them prior to my trip, not really done much artificial fishing in the UK either.
