offshore wreck kayak fishing. Anybody done it? 2 months, 3 weeks ago #22182

I was down at the Tackle Shack getting my drive fixed (I snapped it, bent one too many times I guess). And the guys down there said they are going to start offering offshore charters to haul your kayak out to some offshore wrecks. Sounds like a blast to me! Anybody done something like this??

Chris

No, but we've thought of it and actually talked about doing it a ton of times, but never actually did it. I think it would definitely be a good time for sure

The Yak-Gear people in Texas do it often. He says he has a double set of out-riggers on his yak so as to be able to go out in a little less than good conditions.
Scary, but have you ever watched "Extreme Kayak Fishing" on NBCsports channel (old Versa)
Wife says "Can ya eat it?"

I've seen a lot of offshore videos on YouTube. Looks like a total blast. Yeah, maybe outriggers would not be a bad investment.

Dude, you got a tank. If the U.S.S. Enterprise collided with you, it would bounce off of you.

You DO NOT need outriggers

Might just knock a little mud off, lol. Alright cool. I'm really thinkin about trying it. They say they use light tackle and let their drag scream.

Derick and I have been talking about it for a while for Kings. I'm willing to throw a couple on my boat and test it out once the spring kings arrive.

If anyone of you are interested I just ordered my GPS/Fishfinder Combo for my kayak and plan on heading out to the 1 mile reef. 3 mile is something I may plan if we can get a small group together. I am not hitching a rider either I am talking we kayak out and kayak in. Lmk what you think!
