Our forum member and primary contributor Captain Steve Betz did a great and very simple reel maintenance video for our community a few months ago, and is doing more of them. While I was doing research I found this series of seven videos, that together will show you how to completely dismantle and re-assemble a Shimano reel.
This is by no means advice to use the videos to take apart your own reels, and in my meaningless opinion it's far easier and at-the-end far more effective to hire a person that's done this more than one time. The guy doing the video, for example. He would get my Shimano repair business in a heartbeat. In addition to that, if you follow Steve's advice, you won't have to have thirty-eight screws sitting alongside you while you think of which one went where, and use the replay key. Have you noticed how hard it is to get to the right frame?
Enjoy the series. We hope you like them.
