How Can I Safely Release Bloated Deep Water Fish?

Dear Captain"What is the Best Method to Release a Bloated Amberjack?"

Hi Mr. Foust,

The first thing to do is to carefully vent the fish with a good ventint tool. The tool should meet all Federal and State law requirements.

We have picked a few for you to choose from. We make a few cents when you buy something from Amazon, and we hope you don't mind. It is one of the ways we pay to keep this killer we site alive and happy.

Ohero Vent For Life

Our Personal Favorite Venting Tool is this one from Ohero (the Vent-for-Life) but there are a few hear that we know will work too.

To deflate the gases inside the Amberjack's gut, you will place the venting needle on a 45-degree angle approximately 1-to-2 inches behind the base of the pectoral fin. Insert the needle only enough to release the gases. The sound of the gas escaping is audible and deflation is noticeable.

*Be Careful to Not Puncture the Fish's Inverted Stomach*
