How can you catch glass minnows with a cast net?

Dear Captain"How can you catch glass minnows with a cast net?"

Hi Mr. Wilkens,

The only thing you have to do is change your net. You need a 3/16th mesh cast net. There is only one cast net company that makes that net. Lee Fishers Glass Minnow Bait Buster Cast net. It comes it Green or white and in sizes from 6 feet to 12 feet. I recommend using the biggest cast net your comfortable throwing. These nets weigh a pound and a half per foot. So a 8 foot cast net would weigh 12 lbs and a 10 foot cast net would weigh 15 lbs.

Ask A Captain-Lee Fisher Glass Minnow Bait Buster Cast Net

I would follow the instructions that come with the net and soak the cast net in fabric softener. It will soften the net and make it easier to open. Just make sure after soaking the cast net in fabric softener you rinse the net thoroughly with fresh water.

It is to get the fabric softener that is on the surface of the net off. The reason is after your throw it to catch bait the excess fabric softener will run down the net to the surface your standing on. The next throw of the cast net your realize how slipper the surface your standing on is. Like walking on ice! LOL Good luck on catching those minnows. Please let us know how this works out for you.
