    3Rd Annual Everglades Fishing/camping Trip

The food and camaraderie were great, fishing was tough due to winds. I kinda like the idea of Florida City in case I lose my Huggie and need to buy another one. Unless I find it......its around this place somewhere.....

    Kings?

Any reports of Kingfish showing up in the Tampa area yet?
  6. $90.00 I have a Penn Battle II 2500 and a Quantum Accurist 20 both lightly used no more than 6 times and treated like I do all my gear obsessively well. They are already spun up with power pro and ready to go. So basically you will be getting about 80 bucks off these two reels together new with braid. I still have the boxes with them.
  7. I need to pick up some wild shiners to fish down around Naples for Bass. Anybody know any shops down there that sell them? The one I use to go to seems to have closed. Thanks for the help.

    Bubba Blade...amazing fillet knife

Im faster than my friends with electric knives. I think they are a great tool though. I have some older friends whom elecrtic knives do great, just not for me. Never saw one in a fish house, and that probably says it all. Good for grunts and sheapshead.

    Fluorocarbon.

I was wondering how may of you fish straight fluorocarbon, rather than Braid to Fluorocarbon. For that matter any of you fish mono anymore. I am talking mostly for inshore purposes. Lately I have been asking myself why I don't just spool up a reel full of straight Fluoro instead of dealing with the braid to line knots. Any thoughts. Fluoro is a lot cheaper for me than braid so I might try it.

    Bubba Blade...amazing fillet knife

At ICAST I spent an inordinate amount of time with the Dexter Knife rep and VP. They suggested for saltwater uses that the soft grip is the best of the series. I currently use the Basic in the serrated and 6" and the traditional in the 8". The wood handle on my traditional has finally started to separate. They said the quality of the steel on the soft grip is as good as they have and better than the traditional which is very good. I clean sometimes hundreds of pounds of fish at t a time. Not soft fish either like pompano, kings ect..... Im not going to say which knife is the best because I have not used them all. I like Dexter, and sell the Bubbas. I get a lot of feed back on the bubbas. Once I push guys to the Dexters they don't come back.

    Knots And Super Glue.

Question of the day. I have been pondering this for a while. Particularly when tying Line to line knots. So how much holding power does super gluing the knot ad? I ask this because I can tie lots of knots like many of you. Some are easier than others, some are a downright pain in the a$$. But an even more important issue is the size of the knot. Some knots are long, some are thick and some hang up when casting or are hard on guides. So there is an additional holding power to a knot by adding super glue. So if you have a 98% knot does that make it 100%? You cant really get any usable strength in a knot over 100%. So if you take forever tying a bimini twist, Albright, FG knot or any of the many others, can adding super glue allow you to use a easier to tie knot that goes through leaders easier yet make it a reasonable strong connection? For example would tying a Red Phillups knot and super gluing it become a reasonable choice due to its small size and the ease in which it goes through guides? Well lets see what you guys think.

    Knots And Super Glue.

Ill check out the article. I tie a pretty good knot and fish light for big fish. I have founf the crazy glue with a brush to work well. Don't know what super glue "Krazeing" is as referred to above. Havent found any evidence of the glue damaging the line. I will look up Rieumonts article

    Knots And Super Glue.

All great and true points. The dowel is a great idea. I use my pliers. They have new tying tools to hold hooks and tie knots. I even noticed Fishermans Glue being sold at Bass Pro. Phil is correct your leader can be too long and when it goes through the guides it is a huge problem. However when you use a topshot you have to deal with it so the smaller and smoother the knot the better. You know LOL fishing gets more difficult and technical all the time. I remember fondly the days of worms a cane pole and bobber with my Grandfather. One last comment I keep the Crazy Glue in my tackle box its the only one with a brush tat does not have the cap get glues shut or dry out in the car.
