No charge of course, a co-worker of mine asked me to take them fishing, they have been out before but just caught a trout and your basic cat fishes. Well I said sure, let's go! Day started off well with a solid troutThen he caught his first redfishHe then hooked into the snook of a lifetime, Made two solid head shakes and a long run to the trees he managed to get it out of the trees, then the hooks pulled as it made its third head shake! All in all an epic time on the water. I didn't fish, just put him on them! Came into work today and the first thing he said to me is "I still can hear that sound of the reel in my head!" Hahaha!! Such a pleasure to share the experiance!

Hey y'all. Has anybody had any experience with the Jackson Bug Tuna kayak. This will be my first kayak and I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for me. In leaning towards the big tuna because I can go the tandem route when the wife or my nephew wants to go I have that option. Or if go by my lonesome, I can switch to the solo position. I'm also interested in the live well option because my wife is a live bait kind of lady. It would be mainly for fishing the Bay Area and occasionally the hillsborough river. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Two separate news stories from today.MANATEE -- A Florida Wildlife Commission officer patrolling the Emerson Point area inspected the catch of a small boat with two individuals on board. One of the individuals reportedly took a long time to untie the catch from the boat. The officer reportedly inspected two legal-sized redfish and found a third redfish around the boat. One of the individuals reportedly admitted catching two redfish and took one off the stringer because he had one too many redfish. The individual was cited for possession of over the bag limit of redfish.Read more here: http://www.bradenton.com/2014/06/22/5220037/emerson-point-angler-cited-for.html?sp=/99/100/&ihp=1#storylink=cpyand anotherMANATEE -- A Florida Wildlife Commission officer patrolling the Palma Sola Bay area reportedly saw two individuals walk back to their truck from fishing. As he approached, a man carrying a bucket walked to the water and said he needed to measure what he had in the bucket. The officer reportedly saw three redfish on a stringer - all of legal size. The individual was cited for possessing more than the daily bag limit of redfish.Read more here: http://www.bradenton.com/2014/06/22/5220041/fwc-cites-palma-sola-bay-angler.html#storylink=cpyI hope these jerks lose their fishing licenses. It's nice to see that FWC are out checking things.

Look at B&C Power Yaks. They are located in Dunedin/Palm Harbor, right on Alternate 19. I personally know the owner and he can hook you up with what you are looking for. The owner is a great guy and truly loves what he does. I can guarantee you that you will not be disappointed. Below is their website:http://bcpoweryaks.com/I stopped in today & Bob definitely is someone I could do business with!

I feel like there needs to be a book written about this. Why not? Every other sport or hobby has "unwritten rules." I'm a boat owner but I also fish from land and I also fish with friends on their boats. If they do something that is not right I let them know discreetly. I'm a very easy going person and I have never brought the things that irk me to the attention of the person or persons that have no manners. Sometimes it's other anglers, boaters or other idiots! What are some things that piss you off that other anglers or non anglers do? I'll list a few:1. I fish quite a bit at Howard Park . I have been the only person there fishing and some scum bag comes and throws a cast net 5 ft away from me, Inside I want to throw the guy over the bridge!!!!2. I distance myself from other anglers even if they are in a better spot. I had a guy yesterday that was quite a bit away from me. He then gets closer and crosses my line. 3. Jet Skis4.I was fishing from land at Sunset beach in Tarpon. This guy on a boat gets close to me and says "there are two snook laying up under the mangroves next to you" then he guns his bout right next to me.I kind of felt like he thought he was better than me because he had a boat. Not knowing that i do have a boat and I would neve do that to anyone.Sorry just woke up and felt like venting.

Just spoke with an FWC officer. He directed me to the Coast guards website which has a build a boat guidelines link that details what has to be done to pass an inspection. With the idea of what i'd be building being fairly simple it may be worth it in the long run. Apparently as long as the build meets CG's guidelines an is water ready by an FWC officers inspection an certified, the title/registration process can be carried out as normal.

I don't have patience for artis but I tried a new top water that he got me and I just can't get the motions that are needed..... I like jigheads and gulp ... that way the stupid pin fish can't steal my bait and I can actually catch something ... maybe a Monster 3X will do the trick (hint hint) :)My arm started hurting from walking the dog and I ended up giving up and just enjoying the calm FLAT water and watching nature ... I sometimes wish that I could be a bird and just fly over and scoop down to catch some keepers...Sooner than later we will have to meet up...and I don't like tea so you two need to come up with another metaphor

Our neighbors just got back from the Keys and brought us about 5-7 lbs fillets and said to smoke them ... Not that we don't have the time to smoke them but I would rather try something 'easier' for the first time of eating it since I have never tried them before...And Ideas??

I was kidding about pine! That would be gross. You do not need to buy smoke chips just pick up some dead twigs/branches under any oak tree. And If you are smoking it for fish spread, I would let it go for at least an hour

Of course he caught them all ... I didn't even get a hit!!! I did however figure out that I'm better at live bait and get annoyed and frustrated all to quickly with artificial unless it's a spoon because that's just reel, reel, reel .. not slow reel, thump, let it sit, slow reel ... that's too much. But I will try again this weekend with it....

How about we pick a place a month. Pick a place and a dozen of us can go and pick up stuff and generally make our environment a better place. If you guys pick a place, register a dozen of you to show up there, and submit a bill to TOF for two dozen donuts and twelve cups of coffee and six big plastic garbage cans, we will cover the costs. No sign of us having nene there except for the place being clean. The more of you that will do it the more donuts we will buy. Animals will remain animals.I hear people all the time who make $150k a year plus cars plus plus plus tell me they are serving the community, or saving the environment.Do it. Donuts on the TOF cleanup crew. Do it once a month. Take pictures, tell the story, and keep it here.Nobody will know if we keep it secret. Nobody will know that the reason the garbage level has decreased is because of a site called theonlinefisherman com. Make it a monthly thing. We get it going on YouTube and other sites and the entire region could clean up a bit.

So yesterday Tim (Timmy674) went out fishing for a guys day and I kept myself busy wishing I was out on the water with such beautiful weather. So I decided to clean the house and hope that when Tim came home he would be so happy that I did the chores and he would take me out fishing on Sunday....My plan worked! How exciting...We went to out for breakfast then picked up a dozen shrimp just thinking of soaking up the sun....While we were going out battling the wind and the current decided to hide behind some mangroves and toss some bait, hell why not. - this is a good spot to anchor up.The wind had me facing the mangroves and I was PISSED .. I wanted to move so I could cast with the current. We didn't move; of course. So I positioned to do what I intended.... few minutes later my line went tight ... CRAP I'm so turned around .. Don't panic .. Open the bail and line just peeled away. Closed the bail and it was screaming LOUD... I swear I had the biggest Snook I ever caught, the way it was running. Then it started going straight out away from the mangroves, turn around..calm down don't flip the kayak..breathe...CRAP it went under the kayak STRAIGHT for the mangroves and then started digging...IT"S A REDFISH...Just keep tension Tim would say...REEL...okay put the rod up...TENSION...breathe...I NEVER have fought a red like this before .. about 2 or 3 times running for the open water and turning for the mangroves this Red was working me out! Finally got this HOG in the kayak. I was shaking but damn that has to be the fattest RED I ever caught; 10 lb at least - measured at 28"...not by biggest but surely something to feel proud about! Then .. on our damn near last shrimp I got thumped again! Immediately I could tell this was a smaller red just by the way it was flipping and digging down... Either she tired out quickly or I was just stoked but she was in the kayak within 5 minutes. Measured at 23" --- In slot and will be dinner tonight...When we were coming in saw a bald eagle on the MNZ marker just ended this wonderful weekend perfectly.

Went out of Gulf Harbors for 2 hours saturday just before sunset, saw some really nice reds and snook along the mangroves, but they were not biting. The water is so clear its hard to be sneeky enough to get em to bite. I only had artis, no live bait. Did manage a few lady fish and this fat 23" gator my daughter helped me reel in and photograph before we released her.
