  1. So my nephew and I were fishing one of our "secret" spots. Well by secret I mean it is sort of hidden and there are no "No Trespassing" or "No Fishing" signs posted. Anyway it was about 92 degrees and the bite was slow. My nephew walked up on this five pounder sitting in about 4 inches of water on her side. She was in an area where she couldn't get back to deeper water. I think someone caught her and dumped her back without thinking and she was going to die. After spooking a water moccasin out of the near by grasses I waded in and retrieved her and took her down the bank and after about 5 solid minutes of reviving we finally got her to swim lethargically towards the bottom. We waited around and didn't see her float up and on our way back by an hour later we didn't see her. As a matter of fact when we went back by I was tossing a speed worm and saw a fish about the same size sitting just off the bank looking at me. I tossed the worm in her vicinity and she ate it. I set the hook and she broke water and spit the hook. I like to think it might have been her. Maybe it was her way of saying thanks. Anyway, it's just a reminder that when it is hot, whether you are fishing fresh or salt, make sure to revive the fish and release them properly.
