Hi Everybody, Lifelong FL resident and finally moved to the water. Getting a new boat, hopefully by the end of the week but if not should be wrapped up by the first of next week. Survey and Sea Trial is tomorrow (Wednesday, 4/8/15) and hopefully can start going a little further offshore than I have been going. Past couple of years I have been stuck to the flats but prior to that I had a Proline 30' with twin Yamaha's (last of the carb series, killed me in gas) and prior to that a 25' Grady CC with twin Mercs. Took the Grady to Bimini diving for a week with a dive club I was a member of and had the time of my life! Hope to find the Mackerel and King run in the next week or two; I'll check that section of the forum shortly for the latest reports. Oh yes, latest boat, a 35' Mainship Trawler. Slower getting to the spots but stable, sturdy and while not a true offshore fishing machine it will work well for my needs.
Hey, I've lived in Florida my whole life, and have always loved fishing. However, no one would ever take me growing up. So know that I'm 17 and got a truck and kayak; I'm ready to go. I live in St. Petersburg and would love any help/tips. I will mostly be fishing flats from my kayak or wading from shore. I really want some redfish, pompono, flounder, mackeral, or snook. Need help with locations and bait. I've also saved some money and now I need help picking a rod and reel combo. Thanks, -Carley
