Float Fishing the Coeur d’Alene
We do a lot of wade fishing. In the Pacific Northwest they do a lot of wade fishing too. But float fishing is part of life.
We have done endless time in the water in a tight pair of genes fishing for all the fish in skinny water around here. We've caught snook, trout, big mackerel, and have even hooked a tarpon or ten.
But we have never been float anglers. It really makes sense though. Read this article from The Spokesman:
The North Fork Coeur d’Alene River levels have dropped considerably and there is a lot of bug activity. Conditions are virtually the same on the St. Joe. The lower river is in excellent shape for floating or wade fishing.
The article came from an overall fishing report in The Spokesman Review. Just reading reports about fishing cold mountain streams is exciting sometimes. Thinking about float fishing here instead of wade fishing is an interesting thought too. We know a few people over the years that have used floats and not tight blue jeans.
