LDWF - Sea Grant Public Meetings Rescheduled

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Sea Grant have rescheduled public meetings to discuss proposed artificial reef sites in Lake Pontchartrain and Calcasieu Lake.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Sea Grant have rescheduled public meetings to discuss proposed artificial reef sites in Lake Pontchartrain and Calcasieu Lake.

Both had been originally scheduled for earlier in August but were cancelled due to Louisiana's historic flooding.

The Calcasieu Lake meeting will take place Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Calcasieu Parish LSU AgCenter Office (7101 Gulf Hwy., Lake Charles, LA, 70607).

The Lake Pontchartrain meeting will take place Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the East Bank Regional Library (4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie, LA, 70001).

The meetings are designed for the Department and Sea Grant to receive comments from and provide information to people who are interested in the project.

The proposed artificial reef in Lake Pontchartrain would be located in the southwestern portion of the water body at the site of an existing shell pad, approximately 1.3 miles from Frenier Landing.
