Damage Assessment at Venice Fishing Pier
Had Hurricane Irma passed across the Bay Area off the coast a few miles, the damage would have been beyond belief. Fortunately that did not happen. The Florida Keys suffered badly, and we are all doing all we can to help the victims in Texas and Florida. But overall we did not have that much destruction in the Bay Area.

VENICE — The city closed the Venice Municipal Fishing Pier following Hurricane Irma, pending further inspections.
City workers noticed instability both in the decking and the railing at the end of the pier, according to Venice Public Works Director John Veneziano.
