National Fishing Licenses in NZ - Is the US Next?
Would you support a National Fisching License if you were an RV owner going from state to state? How about a regular angler?
The concept of a "National" fishing license has been kicked around here before. This commentary on forums of the National RV Association shows why it might make sense for somebody that travels a lot from State to State. Considering the fact that a legal gun permit carries weight in Florida the same way it does in Texas, there is a way that states might work together to allow cross-state anglers to catch fish wherever they might be. But a national license?
That is the concept of a discussion happening right now in New Zealand, and it is something that we should avoid at all costs here. It's a state issue - and should remain one in our opinion.
From the Taranaki Daily News:
A Taranaki fisherman has supported recommendations calling for closer unity between recreational and commercial sectors.
Ocean Pearl Fisheries owner Rob Ansley said both sectors already worked together in Taranaki to improve the industry in the region.
A nationwide survey is under way calling for feedback from all anglers on a list of recommendations, including licensing anglers, to protect fish stock and improve management and funding for the recreational sector.
