The Alabama Rodeo and Dr. Bob.
Doctor Bob is loved and hated by anglers - depending on your view of red snapper (and other species). Here he is welcome.
As the American Red Snapper season - managed based on computer models by lifetime government employees - went from 360 days to seven, our beloved Doctor Bob argued with the "science" being used to keep us off the water and away from a resource we essentially own. Opponents of Doctor Bob (commercial fishing families) hate what he says, because he says the fish are fine and we can fish half the year without having any impact at all.
Here in Alabama, he's a hero. This story is from CBS in Alabama
The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo and Dr. Bob Shipp go hand in hand.
Shipp has been a judge at the rodeo for 35 years. He wrote the book on the Gulf’s Fish. “There’s no place in the world that has so many fish of different fish of different species at the same place at the same time,” said Shipp.
