The Online Fisherman Invades Jacksonville
Talk about a good time! We thought Tampa had a great boat show until we went to Jacksonville this past weekend for three days of fun and glory. Tampa is going to have to step up the jams next time around, I'll tell you.
Between the great people we met who know The Online Fisherman, to the bikini contest and the great rock-n-roll, we thought it was 1969 all over again!
This diverse city has it all for the passionate angler – the St. John's River, the inshore action, and the fishing method of choice around here – trolling offshore for the big boys.
Not to mention one of the best boat shows in Florida. The three-day bash included live music at the Oyster Jam Music Festival, great food, beer and other refreshments, and the world's most enthusiastic boaters. The show featured hundreds of new boats and quality brokerage boats of all styles. The broad selection included power boats, sail boats, yachts, kayaks and a whopping selection of marine accessories. The Fishing Guide Shack was a nice feature where anglers could ask questions about throwing nets, how to rig baits and lots of other topics.
The crew from The Online Fisherman.com had a nice booth set up as usual, manned by some of the most knowledgeable fishermen south of Georgia, Captain David Rieumont and Captain Mike Cole. The Jacksonville Fishing Kayak Contest was Won, and the 10-foot Kayak was Presented at the show to Matthew Rogers, a high school senior.
Matthew has been saving up to buy a kayak and absolutely loves to go fishing. Besides homework, he said it's his favorite way to spend his time. Well, you can use that saved-up money to buy some quality hooks Matthew, and a maybe a cast net you can use to grab baitfish before heading out in your new kayak.
If you want to know where the baitfish are check out our Fishing Reports section at The Online Fisherman.com. Here is a recent report from a very knowledgeable Jacksonville angler, Captain Bob Cosby.
All the best;
The team at The Online Fisherman.com
